Mina Alikani



Bio for Alpha Scientists

Dr. Alikani started her work in the field of human assisted reproduction in 1983 and completed her PhD studies in 2006 through Monash University in Clayton, Australia. She is currently an editor of the Journal, Reproductive Biomedicine Online, and holds positions as laboratory director as well as clinical consultant for laboratories in New York and New Jersey, USA.

Dr. Alikani has authored and co-authored more than 70 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on the laboratory aspects of assisted reproduction and she has lectured extensively around the world on ART-related topics. Her research interests include division dynamics in mammalian eggs and embryos, fragmentation and other abnormalities of human embryo development in vitro, and improving IVF laboratory outcomes.Cambridge IVF facility which was completed in March 2011 and is regarded as a very good example of laboratory design.   Stephen took the role of Consultant Embryologist and Person Responsible for Cambridge IVF in November 2014.  He is the current Chair of the Association of Clinical Embryologists, a member of the Board of Alpha Scientists in Reproductive Medicine and the UKAS Professional Advisory Committee member for Andrology.  He continues to be involved in authorship of national best practice guidelines and quality standards and the inspection and accreditation of andrology laboratories.  Stephen’s current research interests involve clinical applications of ultra high power microscopy and sperm selection for the treatment of male factor infertility.
